Driving to The Lost Spring, Whitianga;
Auckland, Hamilton & Tauranga are all within a mere 2 and half hours driving time.
The scenic journey has many stunning views and there are great cafés and interesting towns dotted along the way. The main roads are sealed and well maintained, should you choose to veer from the beaten track you’ll find the 309 Road (named this due to it's 309 corners) and the Tapu Road are both metal roads.

*Driving via Tairua or Whangamata; Arriving into Whitianga there is a large roundabout, turn right at the roundabout onto Joan Gaskell Drive and follow the road. Take a left turn onto Cook Drive after the New World Supermarket, follow Cook Drive, The Lost Spring will be on the right hand side, after Hannan Road.
**Driving via Coromandel Town; Arriving into Whitianga you’ll be on Buffalo Beach road with the ocean on your left. Turn right at Halligan Road, follow this road to the end and turn Left onto Cooks Drive, The Lost Spring will be on the left hand side before Hannan Road.
Flights to The Lost Spring, Whitianga;
Flights into and out of Whitianga are available through Sun Air. Their Whitianga service operates twice daily, 7 days a week, and direct flights can be taken from Auckland, Tauranga & Great Barrier Island. Flying to Whitianga only takes 30mins from Auckland or Great Barrier Island, and only 45mins from Tauranga.
Helicopters and Charter Planes are also available to fly to, and from Whitianga. It’s just a short hop over the firth of Thames and Coromandel range and only takes 30mins to Auckland.
Catch the Ferry to Coromandel Peninsula;
A fast ferry service from Downtown Auckland takes only 2 hours and runs several times a week, departing Pier 4, Quay Street arriving into Hannaford’s Wharf just near Coromandel town via 360 discovery cruises. From there it’s a 30min bus ride or car journey across the range to Whitianga.
If you’re staying near Flaxmill Bay and Cooks beach you can catch a short ferry ride over to Whitianga Wharf from Ferry landing. The ferry runs daily from 7.30am.

Tairua Bus, Go Kiwi, and InterCity offer daily bus and shuttle services connecting Whitianga with Tairua, Thames, Hahei, Auckland and Tauranga.
